Daresbury Laboratory: Facilities and services

The Daresbury Laboratory hosts a number of resources and services that have a strategic importance for the research community:

• Chemical Database Service (link opens in a new window) - Free access to chemical information for the UK academic community. It is funded by the EPSRC's Physical Sciences Programme and is operated by the Computational Science and Engineering Department at Daresbury Laboratory.
• e-Science - next generation e-science facilities
• Library and Information Services
• Medium Energy Ion Scattering Facility (MEIS) (link opens in a new window) - Investigating the surface structure and properties of crystalline materials
• National Centre for Electron Spectroscopy and Surface Analysis (NCESS) (link opens in a new window) - Solving problems in materials science, surface science and engineering
• Nuclear Physics Group
• The Cockcroft Institute (link opens in a new window) - an international centre for Accelerator Science and Technology (AST) in the UK. It is a joint venture of Lancaster University, the Universities of Liverpool and Manchester, the Science and Technology Facilities Council and the North West Development Agency (NWDA).
• The Synchrotron Radiation Source (link opens in a new window) (SRS) - which closed in 2008
