Interaction between research groups and industry is a vital stimulant to innovation and to encourage this the Knowledge Exchange (KE) Directorate integrates both Knowledge Exchange and Economic Impact Activities. There will be specific staff responsible for KE from each of STFC’s key programme areas: International facilities, Universities and in-house facilities and activities.
The Council is distinctive in its approach to brokering partnerships through the activities of the KITE Club. This work will continue to be delivered by a team of staff based at STFC and will encourage entrepreneurship and partnership formation between STFC funded research groups and UK industry. This will be seen through:
- Working with research groups
- Facilitating brokering meetings and workshops
- Visits to companies
- Publicising new initiatives and success stories
- Working with other initiatives and organisations, including Knowledge Transfer Networks, other Research Councils and government departments such as the Ministry of Defence and Department of Health
- Working with professional associations, learned societies, and trade associations
