STFC Consultation

Consultation on STFC's Organisational Review 2008

Introduction

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) has offered to participate in a series of Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) pilot reviews of Delivery Partners to evaluate the effectiveness of their management and processes.

The review involves a process of self-assessment and an evaluation of the self-assessment (and the evidence supporting it) by a panel of independent assessors. The organisational review allows STFC to take stock of the progress it has made since it formed in April 2007 and identify areas for improvement. It will then form the basis of a regular update to Government on the effectiveness of the STFC and be used within STFC to improve its planning and delivery processes.

The review covers six key components:

  • Strategy and Planning
  • Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Monitoring and Control
  • Delivery
  • Value for Money
  • Change

Evidence for the self-assessment will be drawn from a variety of sources including strategic and operational plans, as well as a consultation process seeking input from our stakeholders.

The primary focus of the consultation is to gain feedback on STFC's effectiveness in communication, stakeholder engagement and service delivery.

I hope you will participate in this exercise and provide constructive feedback which will help us shape how we can improve the STFC's effectiveness.

I look forward to receiving your comments.

Keith Mason
CEO, STFC
