Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus - Shaping future science

Daresbury Sciecne and Innovation Campus
Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus

A new era in UK science has begun, following the UK government’s decision to develop two national Science and Innovation Campuses. This exciting concept will bring together leading research organisations, universities and industry to develop land around the STFC’s Daresbury and Rutherford Appleton Laboratories.

Led by STFC and supported by the North West Development Agency, Halton Borough Council and the universities of Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester, the first phase of the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus (link opens in a new window) has included the Cockcroft Institute (link opens in a new window) for Accelerator Science and the Daresbury Innovation Centre (link opens in a new window) for new businesses.

The Cockcroft Institute has brought together international accelerator scientists to create a centre of excellence for research and education in this exciting field of science.

The Innovation Centre provides all the facilities to enable new and established businesses with a technology focus to develop their products and services alongside the expertise of STFC staff. The Innovation Centre is home to more than 80 businesses including three STFC spin-out companies. STFC is now seeking a commercial partner to develop the Science and Innovation Campus further as part of a joint venture.
